Cornerstone Children's Center
is the brainchild of Lisbeth Olsen Condo and Margaret Conley Heffel.
It was conceived as an early care and education center of the highest
quality, designed to provide a nurturing environment where children
can thrive, to be a support to the busy parent, to be a great place
for professionals to work and to be a resource to the community.
Marge and Lisbeth love what they do. Their commitment to excellence
is reflected in every aspect of Cornerstone Children's Center.
Lisbeth Olsen Condo earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education
from Western Connecticut State University in 1988. She entered the childcare
field in the summer of 1987 and has been dedicated to positively impacting
the quality of the care for young children, supporting parents and developing
staff to reach their fullest potential ever since.
Lisbeth is actively involved in the childcare community. She is a
member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children
(NAEYC) and the New England, Connecticut and Mid Fairfield AEYCs. Lisbeth
served on the Board of the Connecticut AEYC as Co-chair of their newsletter.
She is a Validator for the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs
and Co-chair of the Greater Bridgeport Director's Group Staff Development
Committee.
Lisbeth is the proud mother of two and knows first hand the challenges
of combining motherhood and a career.
Marge Heffel earned a Masters
of Science in Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Leadership
from Bank Street College of Education in 2002. Prior to that she received
her Bachelor's Degree in English from Molloy College, Rockville Centre,
NY and worked on her Masters in Business Administration at Adelphi University.
She managed a family retail business for several years after college
and held subsequently more responsible positions in Human Resource Management
until she relocated to Connecticut.
In 2003 Marge was honored to earn the Connecticut Master Director Credential
in Early Care and Education.
Marge also has been active in the childcare community holding officer
positions on the Boards of Directors of The Lower Naugatuck Valley Parent
Child Resources and the Elizabeth Shelton PTA. She served as founding
President of the Connecticut School Age Child Care Alliance has been
active as a member of the Hopkins Parent Council and the Connecticut
League of Women Voters.
As a working mom, Marge understands the childcare needs of working
parents. When she contemplated a return to work after the birth of her
second child she used this knowledge in the design of what became Kidstop
Developmental Child Care Center.
Marge and Lisbeth first teamed up at Kidstop. They decided to team
up again to open a sister center in 1996 and Cornerstone Children's
Center was born!
